if your car is registered as a '76, CA is going to want it smogged at some point. and it won't pass with a carb'd 3.0. you may have deferred that a bit by going thru AAA.
i have a '76 with a 3.2, but i squeezed by the smog monster as my car has a '75 production date was titled from new in CA as a '75.
