As for the oil temp something doesn’t sound right. Verify the gauge. My car was fine on the Trombone cooler. I switched to the Carrera with the American Volt fan Tremuline mentioned because I have working AC and it gets 100+ here frequently. Oh and I drive my car a lot.
And you definitely want to freshen up the suspension. The way my car drives after a rebuild is amazing. Those parts are 40 years old. They are done!

Hell yes brother. I don't think I've done a legal smog on any of the classic or race cars in the last 10 years. I'll be damned if I take a perfectly good 911 or E30 or 2002 and convert it back just to pass smog. I rather pay the $250 price every two years. I did the math and it only comes out to 27.7 burritos (with guac).
PS, I remember you and your son from when I used to play with e30s. I lived in Roseville. I think I was 16 at the time.
