I prefer this...

"The American mindset based on experience since the end of WW2 has been one of unprecedented prosperity and opportunity. The Americans of today do not know anything different and as such have forgotten what it like to suffer privation and hunger. They can not conceive of anything else and live accordingly. The American experience in the past has been one of a can do nation that can pull itself up by it's bootstraps in a crisis. That was then and this is now for the difference is that in the past the American mindset was of a pragmatic nature born of understanding hardships and privation. The American people while having the same potential as before have a different mindset. One where even losers get Trophy's. No one thinks that they have to suffer a hardship let alone having to bite the bullet and suffer one."

I think the reflected sentiment posted on this Thread provides the verification for the veracity of the above statement. I guess what the author of the above statement is saying is, that you will suck it up and do what you have to do if you are hungry. You will not worry about making an "impact on the world."

Another thing about "impatience". or instant gratification. In August of 1945 the world changed forever. With the dropping of the A bomb mankind had developed a means to wipe himself out in an instant. Living with that threat has overturned the concept of delayed gratification at all levels, in that why wait we might not be here tomorrow.

While I like Mr Sinek's take, his take doesn't take into account how we got into this fine mess in the first place. His views are rather superficial because he doesn't go deeper into the baseline of human nature. There are universal concepts in play where he only looks at what effects millennials. Human nature has not changed only the mindsets.
