You are worth exactly as much as your NEXT job pays you. You may think you are worth more, but if no one is willing to pay you more, you are paid correctly.
How do you change this paradigm? Make more jobs than workers, wages have to go up. Or just keep importing workers, this will keep your wages low.
We had several machinist job openings and we believed there was a shortage of machinists....no there wasn't a shortage, there was a shortage of machinists willing to work for the money we were paying. We raised our rates by $4 per hour and WOW, we have machinists!!!
Basic supply and demand. Simple as this.
