I thought the big port SC motors were the early ones which have same post sizes as 930/02 motors. Supposedly the 3.0 Carrera's were lighter but not sure how they can be any lighter than an SC as they are pretty much same chassis - if anything they tended to be fairly well loaded the turbo's. I had a 79 SC and my father in law had a 3.0 Carrera - I could never tell much of a difference.
