Almost any car with appropriate winter tires will do fine in a few inches of snow.

Almost any car with non-appropriate tires will do poorly in a few inches of snow.

Some crappy open-diff FWD car with snow/ice tires will crush a Subaru or 4WD SUV with bad tires.

Buy the car you want to drive all the time, and buy a second set of wheels with top-rated dedicated winter tires NOT all-seasons. Blizzak variants, Dunlop Wintersport, General Altimax Arctic, whatever.
