The plot thickens:
They put a new gas cap on and the truck still showed a big evaporative emissions system leak. They pumped smoke into the system and it came out above the gas tank - probably the worst place it could be. Checking with a mirror they found what they believe is rodent damage and they can't do anything about it without dropping the tank. Unbelievably, they say some of the hoses are not serviceable - meaning if it's one of those hoses they have to replace the whole gas tank. I ask, "You mean you may have to replace the gas tank because some rat a hole in a hose?"
"Unfortunately, yes sir."
