Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly @ Man-Pop August 29th 1970 $5.50 a ticket
This was held outdoors in a stadium. What would be now described as a microburst back then was a rainstorm destroyed the PA and all the gear on the outdoor stage. I had a garbage bag for a raincoat and was soaked to the skin. The field became a mud bowl. Finally the promoters got the powers that be to open the arena next door and we drowned rats got to go indoors. Only problems were the arena held less seats than were people at the show and a mini riot sort of broke out. The people that didn't make it inside started smashing the glass doors. The police convinced them that breaking stuff wasn't a good idea. Us who were inside had to deal with the fact they were starting to make ice on the arena floor. It was old as hell so we moved to the side seats off the frozen concrete.
As I mentioned all the outdoor PA and equipment was destroyed in the rain so it took awhile for the promoters to borrow PA's from local bands Butterfly and Zeppelin played on the floor of the arena, no stage. The crowd sat down on that cold concrete to watch them play. One freak stated to dance (by himself) when Zeppelin started to play and the Cops moved in to grab him. The crowd roared "Let him dance" and the cops moved back and he danced.
No idea what the set list was. I got home at 6:30 am and at 14 years old I got **** from my mother for worrying her and **** from my dad for the same reason.
I had fun
