My mom (RIP) who didn't have a bigoted bone in her body would call Brazil nuts n***er toes.
Of course as an adult she stopped doing that.
However in her late 70's she started slipping... used the term at a family gathering... my niece "GRANDMA!!!"

On the other hand it is foolish to compare the N word to honky, cracker, whitey... do I really need to crack open the history books to point out how poorly American has treated black people?

Much like women and words, you can call any one of us a dick or a cock and we are like... huh... what? But use the B or C word and you might get slapped upside the face.

Having said that, 35 years is a bit much to dig up dirt on anyone for using a word.
