Lots of the Cat I and II riders had campy track pedals. A couple years later, I took the advice from our hot dog national rider and bought a set of MKS track pedals, made in Japan. Oh the horror, from some of the guys, a Japanese pedal on my Italian bike.

165mm track cranks with a single conversion road ring and a straight block in the back was my crit setup. Clement criterium tires. Mavic GL’s or Fiamme red labels. Campy high flange hubs without grease. You would move back the little clip in the middle of the hub and drip in some motor oil before each race. Wheels would spin forever.
