I had pretty much the same thing (170 cranks) but rode on Suntour and Campy hubs with GL330s and Clements Criterium Setas except we used Campy peanut butter looking grease. That's was my whole summer job's pay. My largest cog was a 19 x42/52 for years. When ultra 6 speed came out, I had a true straight block. Old habits don't die, I still ride a 23 large cog, 10 spd today. Unless I know I am going over a huge mt pass, I go 27 with a 39 ring. 16, 17, and 18 tooth are my go to gears with a 53.
