When I was racing I hated for our Porsche/small engine run group to follow the Formula Fords as at least one of them would blow and engine, break an oil line, blow a transmission seal or something else to lay down a long shiny slick. At the CA Speedway they used something they called "irradiated rice hulls" that was about as fine as diatomaceous earth or moon dust! It really soaked up the oil and left the black racing surface nice and white.
