I have the Pioneer unit in my car. I got it mainly for the auto EQ function, adjustable lighting and the fact that it's not as flashy looking as a lot of other ones. I was able to match the colour of my dash lighting exactly, and when combined with 6.5" door speakers and a powered under-seat subwoofer, I'm happy with the sound. If I want more power, I can always add an external amp.
As far as appearance goes, as you can see by the photo, it's pretty shiny, and with my targa top off, very difficult to see the display. As another poster mentioned, some flat black plasti-dip on parts of it may help, but it won't fix that display. However, it's pretty flexible and has USB inputs and bluetooth, though I usually just play CD's on it
