I'd honestly probably say S2000 for a weekend drive car with Mrs Choc might be more ideal. Guessing you're looking at the AP2 which has some more torque, making it a tad more bearable in mundane traffic. They'll have more maintenance than the Miata for sure though.
I don't have any personal experience with NC's, but I know two people who love theirs to death... S2K friends love theirs to death as well.
