PPI picked up a transmission whilstle
Hello Pelican Parts forum!
After a break of some 17 years I'm getting back into Porsche ownership.
So i'm having a PPI done on a 1999 996 Tip. They picked up a transmission whistling sound. It went to a transmissions specialist and they said maybe it's worn bushes and the pump.
Thats all I know right now - waiting for full written report.
Now the it's all good - the owner is happy to rectify before sale. He is evaluating choices of repairing the current transmission or fitting a refurb unit. The other option I have is negotiating a lower price based on the quotes for repair. The transmission specialist indicated it's not in immediate danger of failing, but might leak oil after a while.
But just curious - anyone else dealt with a similar thing? Experiences? Advice?
Thanks!
