The other thing: as a dad, I can't imagine missing my kid's football game for someone else's (particularly when I don't even know those someone elses).

(However, contrary to some on this board, I think there is a difference between rec league vs school level sports. At the lower levels, where everyone understands that commitment is a little less intense--otherwise we'd all be playing at higher levels--it may be OK to miss a game for something else. But at the school level, skipping a game for something elective is not OK.)
