Go Fund me was the same in the 60s and 70s. And likely long before. My brother and I used to fight (literal fist fights) over who got to use dad's lawn mower. Dad made up a schedule on the calendar. He fee to use the mower was that he never touch it again and our yard damn well better be the best in the neighborhood.
