Wow, you been around for some time. Was the racing any bigger in Canada? Where was that, Ontario? During that time, I think it was bigger in Quebec due to the amount of French there. Is that a Bell Biker you have on?

You got that right about getting European info on racing. We stumbled upon the LA Downtown main library (damn book reports) imported Le Gazzetta dello Sport but only to arrive about 3 weeks after the published date. It was better then nothing. This was 1983. Velonews was our life line to racing, both local and European info. During the Tour, the LA times would published who was in the lead and the time. If I remember correctly, this was around 86 when I noticed it. Do you remember Intentional Cycle Sport, a British mag. Somehow our huge library had a subscription again, a month or two late sometimes but were were just too happy to look at all the archives going back ten years. We learned about the Spring Classics and riders other then Merckx or Hinault but LeMond was really our hero. You remember Roger Young? I met him a couple years ago. His girl friend lives a couple houses from a friend of mine (He sells air cool parts). He just started riding and noticed Roger unloading a bunch of bikes and started chit chating and mention the name to me.
