I have eaten a lot of chili over the years. All of it with a standard issue bowl and spoon just like my wife eats her cereal from every morning. I was not informed I need a special bowl and spoon for chili. Is is OK to eat ice cream from that bowl?
I understand it is "for a good cause" but there are infinite good causes that want money and limited resources. Last week we had a charity car show. Several of the members did just what I did, and donated twice the entrance fee as their entrance fee. We took in a decent chunk of change and had zero overhead so it is 100% profit for the charity. The club did not make anything, but we did not spend anything, except a check that will have my company toner to print it on my company printer. And my company envelope. That will add up to almost 2 cents. We will
not take a deduction for it.
My grandmother started donating to a few good causes, and almost overnight she was swamped with other charities looking for a handout. I have seen it happen. After a funeral of a friend I donated to his favorite charity in his name. I got mail from them for 4 or 5 years, and a lot of other charities.
Nice chili bowl and spoon. I hope it does well, I really do. I will pass however.
