After reporting the seller to BAT, as they request you do first in any dispute, they just 'did a Julius Caesar' i.e. washed their hands of it.

As did the seller.

Unfortunately this is possible in any and every scenario of buying a car. Even if inspected by a “professional” hired to do a PPI. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Some crooks have tremendous will to defraud others
