Use Royal Purple 20-50 in the 928 because the bottles match the color of the car and I had to carry bottles of it when it was using oil. Don't know what they put in after the rebuild. With 1K on the clock figure it's time to change out that "break-in" oil.
Recently had to fluids refreshed on the Turbo. Have no idea what brand or even viscosity they used.
Was told, before the ZDDP EPA stupidity, that oils were close enough you could change brands with every oil change with no ill effects. The important thing being to change at the proper interval and change the filter. That the filter mainly removed water from the oil and water was the thing that was causing problems. That is also why short drives are not recommended as they do not give the oil the chance to run hot enough for long enough to help remove the water.
It's kinda like the R2 vs R134 thing. After the EPA outlaws R2 and gets everything switched to R134, they find 134 is worse for the environment than R2.
Or just manufacturing batteries for electrics/hybrids causes more harm to the environment than driving a huge SUV with poor gas mileage.
And, talking about solid lifters. Hope you never have to replace them. The EPA has outlawed some of the chemicals used when manufacturing those solid lifters that keeps them from being able to be manufactured as hard as they once were. So, besides removing the ZDDP, they also made it so new lifters could not be manufactured to the same specs.
Just remember, ALL petroleum products are bad, and anything that uses petroleum is bad. EVERYTHING needs to be made from renewable resources like wood/plants, and powered by solar energy.
