Brad Penn (the green oil) is now called Kendall. Named after the refinery where it is made. It has the right amount of ZDPP and my solid lifters like it. Read through that monster oil thread on the 911 tech site. You will see some real camshaft damage from new oils with no ZDPP. The EPA does not like the stuff because it can poison a catalytic converter if you are burning oil. Cats are expensive but nothing even close to new cams. And they are lots easier to change.

On the 911, I change oil once per year, usually right before a road trip to Parade. On the Elky, every 3,000 miles. Likely that is overkill, but it sure keeps the insides of the engine clean. If you find my thread on Pelican about my engine swap I have photos of the old 305 with 300K miles. The insides were cleaner than many engines with low miles. Virtually no sludge or gunk at all after 300,0000 miles is pretty good. Yea, that engine went to the scrap steel place. But it went 300,000 miles and never missed a beat, except the rings and valve seals were worn out. A full head rebuild was more expensive than just swapping in a brand new 350. That math was pretty easy to do. And I would have had a rebuilt 305 instead of a 350.
