Tough choice. That's a sweet 914 and would be a killer street machine.
As for header choice if you do make the swap... I'd go with SSI. I think they are perfect size for a 2.8 and they have heat. This coming from someone who lives on the surface of the sun in Las Vegas!
They look great, they work great and they hold resale value if you aren't happy with them.
