I think this is the case for many.
I prefer not to trash other people's music taste.
But there are certainly places where I might change my visiting habits if I didn't like what they played.
As Eric Coffey mentioned, the style of music being described is a multi-branched creature. I'm not sure of the name of the branches referenced.

At Christmas time the local Ace Hardware plays the 1950s Kids level Christmas music. It is HORRIBLE. I started carrying headphones in my car just in case I have to go in there. I can't imagine having to work there.
