As another option, you might consider staying just outside of Manhattan for an occasional break from the noise and congestion of the City. I've stayed at the
Hyatt on the Hudson right across the river in New Jersey and found it to be very comfortable and convenient. It's built out on a riverfront pier with stellar views of lower Manhattan. There's a PATH subway terminal right outside the hotel and a train will deposit you at One World Trade Center in 10 minutes. From there you can catch trains to other parts of Manhattan and beyond.
