The factory uses the same console for all cars because customizing them individually for the option on each car would be too cumbersome. Therefore, the factory manufactures only one dash plate or console and puts it in all of that model of car. To work with all possible options the dash plate or console has to have a button or switch for all options available. As the car is being manufactured only the options specced for that are are wired in and attached to a button as the dash plate is finally attached.
