That's not a dummy panel, your car either had or has the full audio package that was optional on the Boxster. That panel is the EQ/DSP panel, and if your car still has the stock head unit it should be functional. If a previous owner swapped out the head unit for an aftermarket one, then it won't be functional. It's also possible that a previous owner for some reason bypassed it for some reason. Are you certain that it doesn't work? If so, you can install a pocket into that position on the center console.

Porsche almost always installs a blank if you don't buy a feature. The only exception that I have seen is the factory Aerokit that Mark mentioned, they still install the spoiler button down by the fuse box even though there is no spoiler to lift. Otherwise, I have never seen the factory install actual buttons for features that aren't on the car.

As for BaT, they'll send you a final draft to proofread, so don't sweat it.
