Whoaaaaa, silicon to keep it from spinning??????????? Do you mean epoxy? I admit I am super tired right now (and have had a couple beers) but silicon is going to make things worse. I used the same method as for re-gripping golf clubs and it worked great.....double sided adhesive tape on the stick, rub lighter fluid on the tape and then jamb the knob on quickly and let dry. Plenty tight then.
