When rebuilding Harley engines...the amount of "rock" in the top of the front rod is the key to judging clearances(normal is about 1/32").
I would say that because of the width of porsche rods...the amount of true "rock" would be much less.
You might be seeing a "slide" effect of the rod moving from side to side on the journal.
