You have to go to the farm. None of them travel well. They are always picked green and shipped while hard as rocks. Somewhere along the way they “ripen.”
Pluck a warm peach off the sunny side of the tree and mush into it (you can’t bite a ripe peach, it’s too soft). Just slurp it in, let the juice run down your chin, and you have tasted heaven.
Use pretty much the same method to enjoy plums and apricots.
