Rubbish. When RMG ppi'd a 986 for me the first thing they did was remove and cut open the oil filter. It was full of metal. They called me, and did no more inspection because it was an IMS time bomb.
These things aren't a mystery. There are ways to actually inspect the condition of an engine.
