You are correct in regards to the model 57 in terms higher quality over the cheaper 22, and 38 offerings... It's quite evident if you handle the spoon. As for value. The 41 mag is rare in itself, and to base its value off of the cheaper 22lr and 38 Saturday night specials that they offered is biased (that is in today's standards new 22lr, and 38 revolvers are sub 300$). As for the reputation, it's my understanding that RG stands for rotten gun. In fact it was a 22 RG that was used to shoot Reagan.
