I don't know if anyone has dealt with thru axle stuff. It seems to be a MTB thing that's slowly invading the road market. So, the skewers listed on the cycling parts sites say thing like "Fits Grasshoppers or RockShock." So, here's what I found about thru axle.
There appear to be three basic configurations: plugs, bolts and simple thru axles. The plugs screw in with a 5mm Allen and have no handle. The bolts have what most closely resembles an old fashion skewer with a nut on one end and a cam handle on the other. The simple thru-axle has a cam or ratchet on one end and threads on the other which thread into the dropout or fork itself. Lynskey employs simple thru axles. You can see the differences on the
DT Swiss site, components/RWS. BTW, RWS is DTS’s ratchet system that takes the place of the typical cam lever.
I needed the last spec, simple thru axle:
Rear Thru Axle - 12mm x 142mm x 1.0 Pitch
Front 15mm x 100mm x 1.5 thread pitch
In the end, the ONLY site that had a good description and exact sizes
was this odd. They shipped the same day I ordered.
