In just looking at the car, and knowing what the new owner paid for it, I believe that I wasn't the only one going for a ride!
I read the article about BB2. There was one thing about the flares that I remember from the early cars.
The early 930's for the street were delivered with spacers. My '77 930 came with a 3/4" spacer on the front and 1" spacer on the rear. The race cars however did not have spacers. They just had 9" front and 11" rear wheels that filled out the wheel well.
To increase the tire contact patch Porsche went to the 16" wheels because they were restricted to the width of the wheel to race in group 4, I believe. By '78 they went to the larger calipers and thus needed the 16" wheels for that reason also.
I just love these cars.
