It could be the flex-plate, but usually that will make a rattling noise from the front.
Try checking the engine mounts, balance shaft belt timing. Difficult to diagnose but get someone to listen while you duplicate the noise. Sometimes the flexplate at the rear cracks and causes a similar noise.
Can you get the noise with the car on a lift?
