So - Just picked up a Shark uv810 at Costco to replace my broken Dyson DC14 Animal.

The Shark head is pretty narrow and the thing is light. The removable canister/vacuum unit is pretty neat. I just wish it had more storage capacity (it's got roughly half the capacity of my Dyson and I had to empty that every 5 minutes or so....) Not sure I like it yet - I may just fix the Dyson.

We did spend some time yesterday at the local vacuum cleaner shop looking at various items. The Sebo's and Miele's are nice, but too much money. Looks like the only serious contenders in bagless are Dyson and Shark. (I've got a couple long-hair cats and the bagless is a must; I bet a bagged vacuum cleaner would need a new bag about every three house cleanings.) The new Dyson's aren't half the machine that my old one was.
