OK... The short answer is "it depends".
I think mechanical watches are over rated.
I get the mechanical made in Switzerland thing but a $10 quartz watch will keep better time than any mechanical watch regardless of cost.
And you can take it off and put it in a draw and it will still be working after a week.
Right now I'm looking for a nice Rolex Oysterquartz. About two years from a battery and the movement is 100% Rolex.
(They didn't make many of them compared to the mechanical models... About 20,000 made total)
Very 70s cool.
About $5k USD will get you a really nice one.
