Yes the I8 is sexy but it's a hybrid, not a pure electric car, and it was billed as a 2 seater "supercar"... It's somewhat compromised as a hybrid with small battery-only range, a mini cooper engine - high nobility right there - and performance that does not come close to matching its looks or price... Word is not out on that audi yet on price, but it's a sexy sedan in a world where sporty sedans are all but gone.
Reliability wise, I don't know what to tell you guys. VW is investing a ton in E-cars. That Audi will be essentially a Porsche Taycan with different chassis tuning and Audi metal on it, presumably discounted from Porsche prices. I'm about to surrender my E-golf in a couple months and that car has had ZERO maintenance over the past 2 years (all I've done is rotate the tires from all the wheel spinning 0 RPM torque), it's been fun to drive, and cost me $1.20 a day of commute in electrons - in fact it lowered my house bill due to an EV plan, go figure. I also enjoy my 991 a couple days a week so I'm not saying E-cars will or must take over, but they are great commuters and fun to drive - too bad most of them are bland or ugly or 6 figures. I keep waiting for something a little sexier than a Golf in that price range, but nothing. Audi released an Etron SUV which is "meh" at $80K, this Sedan one looks expensive sadly, but at least it's not ugly !!!
