It is funny how some kids would rather fight a rabid badger than perform on stage, and others dream about it. I guess it is a good thing. Not everybody needs to be an actor.
Back in my high school days, I was always next to the stage, taking pictures of every pep rally and play. Every kid in school knew me since I was up front and visible on the stage stairs, or somewhere with a camera around my neck. I heard kids ask me to take their picture constantly. Film was expensive, so I would just fire the flash and they were happy.
I never felt any desire to try acting.
