I remember my dad giving me 50 cents to ride my bike down to the barber shop. He gave us military style haircut, no hair longer than 1/2 inch. A basic "high and tight" buzz cut. I had to start mowing yards to make enough money to pay for my own haircuts. Once I was paying I got to have hair that would actually tough my ears! Never long enough to touch my shirt collar. I never did have long hair at any point in my life.
