I bought a 2018 TRD Off Road Premium in May to replace my last Land Rover. It is fully loaded with every option offered except the active corner management. So far no complaints in the almost 10k miles I have put on it. I had a 2006 4Runner for 256k miles and I must say the fit and finish is better on the 5th generation. Toyota has finally upgraded the dash/door materials too. The TRD's have the e locker diff, manual transfer case, and ATRAC that your FJ has. I plan to do a 3" lift, rock sliders, winch, and more off road tires as I enjoy playing off the beaten path. My MPG's are right around 20 and I am happy (was getting 12 with the Land Rover on premium). My only complaint is I wish the tow rating was higher as we are looking at wakeboard boats and most are going to be over the 4Runner's limit. I also don't care for the sad catfish front end but in black it isn't that bad.
I am looking forward to a long uneventful relationship with the 4Runner and plan to take it to Moab/Telluride when it is done with my brother for a boy's trip. It will be nice not worrying about breaking down 2000 miles away from home.
