Yea, it was one of dad's favorites. He brought a huge stereo back from Japan in 1962. Very few people had ever heard of stereo back then, and woofers and tweeters were words most folks thought he made up. Since he was the pilot flying a C-124 back from Japan to Hawaii, they had lots of space to haul it back, no charge. I am sure it was inexpensive, everything in Japan was dirt cheap for Americans in the 1960s.
Dad would play some Jazz, and then as a demo to friends play the 1812 Overture and wake up the neighbors in Pearl City.
In the end he bought a Wollensak tape recorder and recorded many long hours of music for the frequent parties Air Force officers where pretty much required to have.
