The mini van saga...

Brother Bob called brother Tom this afternoon and told him he found a "Notice" Thursday from the wrecker company that picked up his mini van so we now know who has his van. Gave Tom the VIN and told him he better call them ASAP. He did and found they are not sure where his car actually is. They sent a notice 10 days ago. If the nobody calls or comes to pick up the car 10 days from the notice they send it to auction off for storage fees. So the lot is not sure where the van is.

The van as been running up an $18 a day storage fee and is up to $864. Which means they have had it since the day of the accident. Seems they are most likely the ones Bob gave the key to. Tom was the first contact the wrecker company has had about the van. We aren't sure if the van will be auctioned or not because we don't know the actual date on the letter Bob was sent. Tried calling Bob from about 1:30. He finally called back at 5pm too late to call back the wrecker company to make sure it would not be auctioned. Didn't matter anyway because Bob couldn't tell us any dates anyway.

I just don't understand. If Bob has a notice that tells him who the wrecker company is, it should have the date the car will be auctioned if he does not respond. And why didn't he call us when he found the notice so we could go get his van to keep the storage fees from getting any higher.

Understand the van is only worth about $3000, but dang, $3000 is $3000. He doesn't have the money to buy anything else anyway.

Also don't understand...His van is starting to have transmission problems. It is to the point that the more he drives it the more expensive it is going to be to fix. At some point replacing instead of rebuilding the transmission is going to cost more than the car is worth. Why is he driving it except for emergencies before he can get it fixed let alone helping a neighbor move with it?
