Worked a trade deal and brought home another - more complete - 928 yesterday! I know many of the North Texas 928 guys know this car as the "Copper turd", so I'll just refer to it as that. The car originally came from Roger, who I hope to do some business with buying parts!
The car is a 5 speed. The fuel tank was dry, so after checking the oil and water level, we put some fuel in it hoping it would run. After cranking on it and it backfiring through the intake any time it was attempted, we gave up. Brought it home thinking that the timing was off, and after talking to John and confirming it likely was, I re-timed it. It now runs momentarily with a splash of fuel poured in it, but nothing beyond that.
The injectors do not appear to be firing, and I will confirm that is the case with a noid light in a day or two. Jumping the relay for the fuel injection yielded no results. I do have fuel at the engine. I will also check grounds, namely the notorious one I've read of that's located on the passenger side valve cover to see if anything improves. I'm also going to have to do some work with the wiring at the 14 pin connector, which might be part of the problem.
Beyond that it should just need basic maintenance mechanical wise to make it a driver. The interior needs a ton of help. Hopefully I can find who might have the title for it. I'd really love to avoid going through the bonded title process.
