I agree Jim, the credit card companies have to come up with a more secure system.
My credit card for my personal and the one for business use both are through USAA. They send a text if there is something that trips the suspicious algorithm. On Saturday night for the Porsche club Christmas party, since I am treasurer, I get to whip out my credit card to pay the tab of just under $1,900. It sailed right through the fraud alert. As if I often go to dinner and spend that sort of money. I have bought gas on a trip in a state that surprised the credit card company and had to reply to a text message to approve the purchase.
It took several tries to get USAA to figure out our airplane can indeed fly into two different states within 5 hours, and fill up with $250 in fuel each time. They finally understood, the credit card scammers don't get fuel at airports I guess.
