Back in the days of working at a photolab, we printed photos for law suits regularly. I was the lucky guy to print 16x20's of an exercise bike that the seat broke under the mass of a large lady that really needed to exercise. The connection of the seat broke in such a way she was impaled with jagged steel. Fortunately her husband was home and called 911, and she lived. The shaft of the exercise bike seat still had hunks of meat and lots of blood all over it. They were very gruesome, as were some of the photos of her posterior, taken by the doctor. Everyone that saw the picture would squirm. She was awarded a large settlement, and those exercise bikes were recalled.

We printed many photos of stuff that was beyond gory for lawsuits, and trials.
