I'm in the same position. Tank is 11 now with cancer and a torn AC. We will be downsizing and doing some RV travel, so a smaller dog is a must.
Since you have the property, a Vizsla is an excellent choice and fits all your requirements. They are excellent with children, very low maintenance, and will bark at strangers, but are not guard dogs.
