MSI was because the original board was an MSI, and I picked B450 chipset because I knew for sure the bios would be compatible, and overclockable.
As for the processor, I think the ryzen 3 is a fantastic deal for $89 you get 4 cores 8 threads, a fan and an integrated GPU that is enough for the kind of gaming I do.
For my first build I did not want to invest tons of money or overbuild without knowing what the results would be. Later on I can add an extra GPU if I see any limitations.
Also I used 16gb ddr4 3200 because that really helps the integrated GPU.
It is really a very modest setup, in an old case, put together by a middle aged guy

. I see kids go crazy these days with transparent cases and leds everywhere. Though I must say those led fans are kinda cool.
