I don't think I have ever lost a socket, as in it is gone, ever. I still have the entire set of sockets I bought for my first car back in 1970, with the exception of the 14mm, and I broke it and had to replace it.
With that said, all of my tools have the ability to transport themselves, and they all have invisibility cloaks. I spend hours of any project looking for my tools. They end up in places that no normal person would have ever laid them down. I should NOT have to look INSIDE the refrigerator for my tools.
The only tool that I can be sure does not transport itself is the air compressor and the impact wrench if I leave it attached to the air hose.
The invisibility cloak all my tools have is the most annoying. I can look for them in the logical place, and not find them, spend 10 minutes looking and then find it just where I first looked. How a solid metal object can go temporarily invisible is amazing.

Mine have the same problem! If I load up on benadryl I can usually find them, though.
