Don't take Benadryl. Take the other stuff that does not make me sleepy.

My first Golden was a very smart fantastic dog. But she had allergic reactions at times to what the vet said were flea bites. Her skin would swell and get all wrinkly like a Sharpei. Would give her a Benadryl shot, then pills for a few days then she was okay. She got white faced living to 17-1/2 but never noticed any mental deficiencies she was still a very smart dog.

Mom got breast cancer they successfully removed. Put her on a medication they said stopped the cancer from returning in 80% of patients. Problem was the #1 side effect was stroke and post stroke dimentia. When we found out we asked the doctor and he said you either have a stroke or have the cancer come back. She said she would rather have cancer than lose her mind. It was sad because she had already taken enough that it was a long ride watching her brain fade away. They should have told us BEFORE the first stroke.
